OpenAI launched its App Store in December. Anthropic launched Claude apps in January. Google is next. The AI app ecosystem just went from theoretical to real, and the companies that build the infrastructure for it now will define how it works. This is the role where you help build that.

We're hiring a Founding AI Engineer to own Layo's agentic product stack. You'll build the AI that helps customers design, develop, ship, and measure their apps, an autonomous product teammate that can ideate, build, analyze, and iterate. Think of it as a full product team (data + design + dev) collapsed into one agent. This is one of the first roles of its kind.

You'll work directly with the founders to define what AI-native product development looks like.

• Agentic workflows that design, build, and iterate apps end-to-end
• AI-powered code generation and interface design
• Analytics and measurement layer that suggests and applies changes
• Human-in-the-loop review system for autonomous updates
• Prompt architecture and model orchestration across the product lifecycle
• Integrations with ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini as both targets and tools

• 3+ years building AI/ML systems or products with LLMs
• Deep experience with prompt engineering, function calling, and agent architectures
• You've built systems where AI takes action, not just answers questions
• You think in product terms, not just model terms
• You ship fast, learn fast, and improve through momentum
• You build with Claude Code, Cursor, and know the modern AI stack cold

• Experience building autonomous or semi-autonomous agent systems
• Understanding of MCP (Model Context Protocol) and AI platform integrations
• Background in code generation, design automation, or developer tools
• Has built at the early or growth stage before
